My amazing partner, fiancé and generally the most brilliant person you could ever meet, gave birth to our second child in the early hours of yesterday morning. After what can only be described as one of the longest and proudest moments of my life she brought our (not so) little Harrison into the world.
For hours upon hours, she breathed, grunted, pushed and even swore her way through the pain, through the self doubt and worry. Each minute surpassing my own expectations of her pain threshold and each swear word wishing we’d set up a swear box, if we had, we’d be half way to paying off our wedding by now!
She looked beautiful to, I even joked it was about time we saw the “pregnancy glow”. My better half would completely disagree with me here but she did. My mother in law would be mopping her brow with a wet towel, water running down her face, with my job -the back rub. Rubbing so much it felt like I was slowly wearing away her skin with the friction. Whilst looking at the amazing person in front of me, I couldn’t help but see how perfect this woman is. There are no words to describe the feeling, the love I have for her.
Twenty one or so hours later he eventually arrived. In a crowded room full of people no one else mattered, just her and my son. The last push after an eternity of pain, gas & air, our family grew to a family of four. He was beautiful, all 10lb of him, he had a full head of hair and crusty little hands and feet. After a well deserved but quick cuddle with his mummy he was taken away to check he was OK – which he was. The relief on her face after asking again and again “is he OK?” was priceless.
I cannot thank her enough. Not only does she look after me and my daughter, she has added another little person to our lives.
Stacey you’re amazing, I love you forever and always. x
PS I’d like to thank Staceys mum for being their holding both our hands! My mum & dad for having Poppy and everyone that has sent their well wishes. It’s tough to get to you all but we do really want to thank you x
